Women's Yoga Retreat in Morocco: A Week of Deep Rest
"The yoga and wellness that I teach is all about bringing the mind home, in and through the body."
A return to yourself is the heart of Inner Harmony, the seven-night women's yoga and wellness retreat I'm leading at Bab Zouina in Morocco's Ourika Valley, near Marrakech, from 21 to 28 November 2026. I'd love to share a little about how I teach and what we'll be exploring together.
Bringing the mind home through the body
Yoga is a union of body, heart and mind, in and through the body, using the breath as a bridge. In my classes, we use the breath as our guide and tune into the different parts of the body. We gently and mindfully move into the asana, or shapes, and we release what no longer serves us.
Inner harmony, one breath at a time
The physical stretching is one part of the practice, and it's as much, and more, about your connection to yourself. Over time, you become familiar with what it feels like to have that sense of awareness in the body, in the hara, in the abdomen, in communion with the body, the heart, the mind, your higher self, your soul.
I guide and create opportunities for inner harmony, one breath at a time.
Befriending yourself
Yoga is about developing a relationship with yourself: getting to know all of you, even the parts you might not be too fond of. It's about caring enough to look after yourself. Yoga teaches awareness with compassion and care, being gently curious, with no pressure. In Morocco, we'll have a whole week to practise this together.
A deep relaxation to integrate the work
Each session closes with a deep relaxation to integrate the work, allowing everything to settle and a sense of calm and peace to evolve from the inside out. With yoga twice daily for a full week, there is time for that calm to really settle in.
“When the body feels safe, everything softens.”
A nurse's understanding of rest
My background is specialist occupational health nursing, and I work therapeutically and safely from my knowledge of the body. I also bring a holistic interest in nutrition, movement and nervous system wellbeing. When the body feels safe, everything softens. This week is a chance to really nourish your nervous system, reset it and release that residual fatigue.
You don't have to be flexible
To practise yoga, all you really need is an open mind and a willingness to be okay with yourself as you are. You don't have to be flexible, and you don't have to have a regular practice. I offer various options and supports in every class, so you can listen to your body, move at your own pace and choose what feels right for you. Everything is optional.
Inner Harmony Women's Yoga & Wellness Retreat in Morocco
Everything I've shared here is what we'll be practising together for a whole week at Inner Harmony, my women's retreat at Bab Zouina in Morocco's Ourika Valley, near Marrakech, from 21 to 28 November 2026.
I'll be offering yoga twice daily, including gentle flowing movement, Yin and Restorative yoga, along with mindfulness, breathwork and journaling. Days unfold slowly here. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced. There is space built into everything, so you can listen to your body, move at your own pace and choose what feels right for you.
Each day brings nourishing Moroccan food, time in nature and connection with a small group of women.
Why a week in Morocco
Imagine a week in the Atlas Mountains, surrounded by warmth, nature, beautiful food and good company. At Bab Zouina, everything is taken care of: nothing to organise, nowhere to rush to. There will be plenty of time for rest, relaxation and simply being, and I'll also be inviting you to try an optional digital detox, to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with yourself.
On and off the mat
Throughout the week, we'll explore how to live from that inner awareness on a daily basis. My intention is that you return home feeling calmer, clearer, more grounded, restored and more connected to yourself.
"You will feel clear, calm and get a feeling of finding back to yourself after a week in Deirdre's hands."
